PUBG Mobile 4.4 Hero's Crown: Everything New in This Month's Update
Version 4.4 dropped in May and it is the build everyone is grinding right now. It is a big one. PUBG Mobile went full Greek mythology this time with the Hero's Crown theme, added two new guns, finally pushed the Panzerfaust onto the big maps, and rolled 120 FPS out to a lot more phones. Here is everything worth knowing if you have been away or just want the short version.
The Hero's Crown theme and Glory Points
The headline mode is a Greek mythology spin on Erangel. Your whole squad shares a single counter called Glory Points, and you build it up by getting kills, reviving and assisting teammates, and finishing the new Divine Trials around the map.
Hit 50 Glory Points as a squad and finish in the top four, and you unlock access to the floating island for the end game. That is where the real reward fight happens, so the early game is now about farming points, not just loot.
Divine Trials
These are short challenges tied to specific spots on the map. A few you will run into:
- Prometheus at the Ruins: defend the sacred fire for a minute against waves.
- Achilles in the urban zones: shoot down floating helmets before time runs out.
- Spartan at School or Mylta: hold a flag through five waves of enemies.
- Icarus: a flight course you clear using wings.
- Helios on the floating island: grab five embers and take down the Helios centaur boss inside three minutes.
Powers and the Helios companion
The mode hands you temporary abilities too. Heart of Fury gives a speed boost and damage reduction, Wax Wings launches you into the sky for a glide of about 120 seconds, and Battle Flag drops a squad zone that cuts incoming damage and extends knockdown time.
Beat the Helios boss and he actually joins you as an AI companion for the rest of the match. He marks enemies, heals you, can revive you, hands over consumables, and takes voice commands. It is genuinely strong, so clearing that boss is worth the risk.
Two new guns
M1 Garand
This one is locked to the Hero's Crown mode for now. It is an 8 round rifle with that classic ping when the clip flies out, and it sits somewhere between a DMR and a sniper. Damage is high and it is more stable than most DMRs, so it shines at medium range. The catch that makes it fun: landing damage has a chance to instantly refill the magazine, so if you stay accurate you can keep the pressure on without reloading. Tap it like a Mini14, do not try to spray.
Panzerfaust
The German rocket launcher is finally off Karakin and into the rotation on Erangel, Miramar, Rondo and Weekend. The blast radius went up from 6m to 9m, but they pulled back the lethal range and the backblast damage to keep it fair against players.
Where it really hurts is vehicles. A direct hit does close to 1,000 damage to a car, so it deletes anything with wheels. You will find it rarely on the ground, in air drops, or from the in-match supply shop. One warning: mind your backblast in tight rooms, you can still hurt yourself firing it against a wall.
New ride and a returning gun
There is a new two seat convertible called the Roadster that is quicker than the usual cars, and it shows up both in the themed mode and on classic Erangel. The AUG also came back into the regular loot pool, which is nice if you missed it.
Erangel got a face-lift
Four hot drops were rebuilt with the Olympus look, including the Ruins, Ferry Pier and Mylta. Expect marble, gold trim and war flags, plus holy water pools you can stand in to heal up fast. If you like hot dropping, these are great early fight spots and the healing pools reward pushing instead of camping.
More phones get 120 FPS
120 FPS support widened to roughly a quarter more devices. On iPhone that means any model with a 120Hz screen, and on Android it covers Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300 and newer. The download system is smarter too, with auto-resume if your connection drops mid update.
Flash Crew and quality of life
The new Flash Crew system lets you team up through matchmaking and build rapport for rewards over time. On top of that you get a cleaner lobby, a better minimap and marking wheel, an anti packet loss toggle, and a smart download center to save data.
That is the meat of 4.4. The Greek theme leaves when the next update lands, so if you want the Helios companion and the floating island fights, get them in while they are here.
